Neville Newcomb Insurance Brokers

Our history

Neville Newcomb started his Auckland real estate business in 1898.

He was appointed Auckland agent for the Guardian Royal Exchange Insurance Co. Limited in 1900.

In 1924 the company, which had then been incorporated as Neville Newcomb Limited, was appointed the New Zealand Attorney for the General Accident Fire & Life Assurance Corporation Limited, a large insurer from the United Kingdom.

Attorneyship was sold back to General Accident in 1940, who then operated in New Zealand on their own account.

In 1948, in response to market need, Neville Newcomb Ltd established its reprographic centre and operated Copycat equipment from premises adjacent to the Farmers free bus stop in Wyndham Street.

The insurance broking division was incorporated as a separate company under the title 'Neville Newcomb Insurance Brokers Limited' in 1981 and in 1991 the division was purchased from the Newcomb family by John Leybourne and David Fenwick, long term partners of the company.

The Company then merged with Akarana Insurance Ltd in the late 1990’s. Two acquisitions followed; Jim Eades & Associates Ltd in 2008 and Graeme England Insurance Services Ltd in 2016.

In 2019 Greg Moreton joined the ownership team replacing David Fenwick. The company is now owned and managed by Peter HaslamGreg Moreton and Scott Edwards.
